20+ Years of Standards and Best Practice – Is the Web Accessible Yet? (Virtual)

In May 1999, the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 1.0 were published by the World Wide Web Consortium W3C – the standards maker for the world wide web. Countries, states, and municipalities have adopted and adapted standards as the Internet evolved. In honor of Global Accessibility Awareness Day, the Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities will host an interactive discussion on where we’ve come and what remains to be done.

Flexcelerate Accessibility Day (Private/Internal)

Flexion is dedicating its continuous learning “Flexcelerate” Thursday to building greater company-wide accessibility awareness and broadening our best practices. We are doing a complete takeover of Flexcelerate to help us improve our knowledge and skills about how to make the work we do more accessible and inclusive. Each guild will explore a different accessibility topic from their perspective: engineering, UX—even recruiting!

GAAD Inclusive Teaching and Learning Celebration (Virtual)

Georgia State Universities will hold multiple virtual workshops throughout the day dedicated to helping faculty improve their classroom accessibility. Topics range from course design to using incorporating learning technology to support accessibility.

Fix your Documents! (Private/Internal)

We recently acquired BlackBoard Ally to increase digital accessibility for Holy Family students, faculty, and staff. We want to set this day aside to introduce Ally to our faculty and help them understand the importance of providing accessible documents to our students. We will provide training through a variety of mediums including onsite/online one-to-one and small group instruction, FAQ virtual and onsite, a quick question hotline, and asynchronous tutorials.
